四川省冶金设计研究院是冶金行业专业设计研究, 具有中华人民共和国建设部颁发的冶金行业甲级、 建筑甲级设计资质，甲级工程监理资质，国家发改委颁发的甲级工程咨询资质，四川省环保局颁发的环保治理甲级资质，一、二类压力容器设计资质、安全评价资质、清洁生产审核资质。
从1978年建院以来，我院坚持“科技为本，质量为先、进取为上、满意为旨”的发展方向，立足国内，面向世界，从单一的冶金工业设计，迅速拓展到工业与民用建筑、市政、公路、电力、环保、工程总承包、工程监理、安全评价等领域，成为多学科、多专业并具有现代化技术装备的综合设计研究院。
在业务发展的同时，我院在人才积累中也硕果累累，培养和造就了一支实践经验丰富、理论造诣精深的科研、技术和管理人才队伍。全院现有各类注册工程师80人，享有政府特殊津贴的专家5人。
现有地质、采矿、选矿、烧结、炼铁、炼钢、轧钢、冶炼、铁合金、焦化、建筑、结构、给排水、电力、技术经济、概预算、暖通、热能、环保、通讯、总图运输、 贮运、等二十几个专业。
我院一贯注重技术更新，工艺研究，并将成果应用于工程实践，共完成设计项目300余项，固定资产投资160多亿元。有16项工程获奖，5项获国家专利。其中，省、部级科技进步奖、优秀设计奖二等奖2项，三等奖4项。参与了多项标准、规范、定额、设计标准的编写。
我院承担设计的四川宏达集团云南金鼎有限公司铅锌矿采选工程（200万t/a），现是亚洲最大的铅锌矿；金广集团西宁镍铁合金电炉工程，是国内大型镍铁合金电炉；浙江格洛斯φ1200无缝钢管工程，是国内目前最大的无缝钢管。
其它工业项目有三洲特殊钢管公司φ630特种钢管工程、达洲钢铁集团180m2烧结，云南楚雄钢铁公司450 m3高炉、92m2烧结，攀枝花联合焦化公司100万t/a焦化及化产等一大批投资数亿省级重点建设工程。也有中国科学院光电所放射性废物处理，重钢五厂2万t/d废水处理工程等一批环保工程。
我院不仅在工业设计上有着雄厚的实力，在民用建筑设计上也有自己的特色，先后完成了西南综合贸易市场（139000m2）、中拓房产西安路住宅（70000m2）、阿坝监狱扩建工程（50000 m2）、东大臻邸商住楼（33层）、利成名都商厦（33层）等工程。
我院在质量管理上以产品为基础，以优质为目标，坚持工序管理制度、过程动态进行管理校审制度、质量保证金制度、现场设计代表制度、回访制度等，形成一整套质量管理保证体系。
我院目前已成功地进入了河北、江西、山东、安徽、辽宁、甘肃、云南、重庆、贵州、西藏、浙江、新疆、河南等省市的设计市场，赢得了良好的声誉，树立了较好的市场形象。并已在吉尔吉斯斯坦、越南、韩国、朝鲜、老挝等国承担过设计任务，正逐步向国际性公司迈进。
我院以精心设计、质量第一、用户满意为宗旨，愿与厂矿、企事业单位广泛合作，开展工程项目的设计、咨询、工程总承包、安全评价、清洁生产审核工作。
Sichuan Metallurgical Design & Research Institute is a professal design of Metallergical Industry. It owns the A-level metallurgical industry qualification, A-level construction design qualification and A-level project supervising qualification issued by Ministry of Construction of the Republic of China, A-level project consultation qualification issued by National Development and Reform Commission, A-level environment protection qualification issued by Environment Protection Bureau of Sichuan Province, pressure containerⅠ&Ⅱ design qualification ， safety evaluation qualification and cleaner production auditing.
Since the inception in 1978, our institute has been always sticking to the development guideline of Emphasis on Science & Technology, Quality, Enterprise and Customer Satisfaction to develop our common career. Our business has now radiated from domestic to nearly world geographically and has extended from metallurgical industry design to industrial and civil construction, municipal engineering, road, power, environment protection, general project contracting, project supervision, safety evaluation and the like fields, being now an integrated design & research institute with multi-principle and multi-specialty background as well as latest technological equipment.
In our institute, human resource accumulation is always hand in hand with business development. There are 80 certified engineers in total and 5 experts have been granted to national special allowance .
Our specialty field covers over 20 specialties including construction, geological engineering, thermal engine, mining, mineral separation, agglomeration, iron making, steel making, steel rolling, smelting and coking, structural engineering, water supply and drainage, power, technological economy, budgetary estimate, air-conditioning, environmental protection, communication, general plan transportation, storage, etc.
Technical updating, technical study and applying research production to engineering practice are regarded to be most significance in our institute. Totally speaking, design projects completed have amounted to over 300 and fixed asset investment 12 billion yuan. As to the honor, 16 projects our institute has undertaken bear the palm, including 2 winning the provincial & ministry science and technology progress prize and level-2 excellent design prize and 4 projects winning the provincial & ministry science and technology progress prize and level-3 excellent design prize and 5 projects are granted with national patents. Apart from above, our institute has participated in a number of makings of standard, criterion, norm and design standard.
The lead & zinc mine (2 million t/a) of Yunnan Jinding Co., Ltd, Sichuan Hongda Group Co., Ltd designed by our institute is now the largest lead & zinc mine of Asia; the ferro-nickel alloy electric furnace of Xining Company, Jinguang Group is the a large ferro-nickel alloy electric furnace in China; the φ1200 seamless steel pipe of Zhejiang Gross seamless Steel Tube Co.,LTD is the largest seamless steel pipe engineering in China.
Other industrial projects undertaken by our institute are as follows: he φ630 special steel pipe of Sanzhou Special Steel Pipe Company, Panzhihua Steel Group, the 180m2 agglomeration projects of Dazhou Steel and Iron Group, the 450 m3 furnace and 92m2 agglomeration projects of Yunnan Chuxiong Steel and Iron Company, the 600 thousand t/a iron mine mining project of Sichuan Province Pingchuan, the 800t/d copper mine project of Sichuan Province Liwu, the 1 million t/a coking project of Panzhihua Unified Coking Company and the 600 thousand t/a coking project of Huachan County and Weiyuan County, etc. Apart from the provincial key construction projects with the investment amount over 100 million yuan, there are still a number of environmental protection projects including the radioactive waste disposal project of Light & Electricity Institute of Science Academy of China and the 20 thousand t/d waste water disposal project of No. 5 Works, Chongqing Steel Group.
Besides great strength in industrial design, our institute's strength in civil construction design is of its own feature. For example, our institute has undertaken the mapping base project of Southwest Integrated Trading Market project (139000m2), the Xi'an Road Residence project of Zhongtuo Real Estate (70000m2), the Aba Prison Extension project (50000 m2), the DongdaZhendi Commercial Building project (33 floors), and the Liming Mingdu Shopping Center (33 floors), etc.
Our institute places great emphasis on quality management and has developed a complete set of strict management system, including process management system, dynamic process management and reviewing system, quality guaranty bond system, on-site design representation system and callback system.
Our institute has entry into the design markets of Hebei, Jiangxi, Shandong, Anhui, Liaoning, Gansu, Yunnan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Tibet, Zhejiang, Xinjiang, Henan and so on, winning a good reputation. And we have undertaken some design projects in Kirghizia, Vietnam, South Korea, North Korea and Laos, etc, gradually entering the international market!
We have and will stick to the guideline of Elaboration in Design, Seeking Higher Quality and Customer Satisfaction and are willing to develop hand in hand with related factories & mines and enterprises & public institutions in the field of project design, consultation, general project contracting ,safety evaluation and cleaner production auditing.
